The December meeting will be the Guild's annual Christmas Luncheon and gift exchange.  Members, check your email for specifics as to when & where!

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Hoosier Hills Rug Guild will be

Saturday, January 12, 11 AM
Serendipity Fibers
Huntingburg, Indiana

Here’s what we gave thanks for at the November meeting…..
While it looks like Anne has hooked arrows to point out an X, it's really flowers in progress.

Given a choice of standing on her head to hook her piece, Melody chose to have her sheep do the headstand.

Judy getting all swirly with it!
Everyone agreed that this is a pretty cool pattern.

It was suggested that Libby end her pattern and make a 6" ruler holder rather than a yardstick holder  😀

Sue's Sock Monkey chair pad is taking shape.

Sharon's getting stripey with it - and angle-ly too.

Shiela was also getting stripey with it.

A great way to use up extra worms!

The results are pretty impressive!

And then when it was time to pack up & head home, Sheila took her rug for a ride...

Wishing you a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!

Well, if you blinked you missed this year’s version of fall.
As we gear up for Thanksgiving,  the next meeting of the Hoosier Hills Rug Guild will be

Saturday, November 10th, 10:30 AM
Washington Library

Here’s the scoop from the October meeting…..

While there was some rug hooking done, much time was devoted to looking through the books, magazines, and wool that, as a result of cleaning through a few things, Betty brought to distribute at the meeting.   (Every time that I pick up a new hobby I swear that I won’t let it get as stockpiled with projects as past crafts as done, but I’m sure I’m not alone thinking that’s a lost cause!)

Got Wool?
Got magazines & pattern books?

Mel & Anne make their selections.
Kathy, Betty, Mel, Libby, & Sug

Mel's latest... not too Baaaa(d).

Anne's moved on to flowers.

Libby continues to inch along!

Saving the best for last.... Sug's own artwork, completed & ready to go.

Hope to see you in November!

Bring suggestions as to where to hold our
Annual December Luncheon!

It's beginning to look a lot like.... the hot weather is returning!
So stay cool with rug hooking!

The next regularly scheduled of the Guild will be:

Saturday, Oct 13th at 11 AM
Serendipity Fibers, Huntingburg

The Guild will not meet in September as the 15th Annual Danville Hook-In falls on the same date.
Here's a link for more information (you'll need to cut & paste the link):   http://thewoolkeepers.com/pdf/15thANNUALWOOLKEEPERSHOOKINREGISTRATION.pdf

Also in September is Woolen Heirlooms' Fall Gathering:
information is available on Facebook, or by contacting Woolen Heirlooms in Newburgh.

Meanwhile, the August meeting was a colorful one!

Libby is on a Sunflower spree!

Mary had a little la.... I mean, Melody has a sheep footstool!

While visiting with Sug & Kathy, Shirley is working on a rather large Christmas stocking
(you know what they say.... large Christmas stocking means a large fireplace!
But to be honest, when I first saw it I thought of a piano keyboard.....)

Sheila is working on a house - not sure of a move-in date yet!

With Libby in the background, Sheila & Janice visit...
but in this picture, the fall colored wool takes center stage.

Taking a break from her flowers, Judy works on her Swirly pillow top.

If you're planning on attending the Hook-in or Gathering,
hope to see you in September,
otherwise, see you at the October meeting!

July Meeting!

Just a quick reminder ... this Saturday, July 14, will be the next regular meeting.

It will be at Serendipity Fibers in Huntingburg!

Time is 11:00 a.m., after Melissa opens her shop.

Looking forward to seeing you there ... and remember, visitors are ALWAYS welcomed!  Bring a friend!

Monday, May 21, 2018

The June guild meeting will deviate from the usual meeting places
& be a bit of a field trip.  Members should check their email for directions.

Otherwise, plan on joining the Guild for the next regularly meeting

Saturday, July 14th at 11 AM
Serendipity Fibers
Huntingburg, Indiana

The May meeting exhibited a lot of work, as well as a lot of visiting - it's amazing in that small group that members discovered who was related to whom!

Meanwhile....

Melody works on a sculpted sheep while Libby cuts wool to work on her yardstick cover.
In the background, Sheila & Betty.

Sug & Kathy came to visit & supervise!

Sheila begins work on a new piece while Betty visits & joins in the supervision.

Janice works on the background for her pear.
Sharon & Anne work on their pieces.

Judy's flowers continue to grow, while the upper portion of the picture
show's an outline of Sue's new piece.

Sharon working on what will be her second sunflower pillow, in the background Anne continues work on her basket of flowers from last month.

Sharon's piece, just a bit more background to go!

Hope everyone enjoys the May weather!

The May meeting of the Guild will be held

Saturday, May 12 at 11 AM
Serendipity Fibers
Huntingburg, Indiana

Hope to see you there!

Since spring may eventually get here, Anne's basket of posies is a timely work!

This blue bird is patiently waiting on Sharon to finish the sunflower so it can get some seeds.
Since the round shapes are sometimes called cat's paws,
could Judy be working on pussy willow?

The other flowers on Judy's rug.
A-pear-antly Janice likes her fruits as previous she was working on a pear tree
and this month it's a paisley pear.

Inch by inch, Libby's yardstick cover grows!

Taa-daa! Or perhaps that should be cock-a-doodle-doo!
The dump-dye roosters are finally home to roost!
Both Sharon & Sue have competed their roosters that they started during a class
with Gene Shepard at the ATHA Convention.

The next meeting of the Guild will be:
Saturday, April 14 at 10:00 AM
at the
Washington Public Library

Note:  lately the meetings have been alternating locations between the
Washington Public Library and Serendipity Fibers in Huntingburg.

Meanwhile, at the March meeting, attendance was up!  Members from Tell City made the trip, and Sheila was able to attend as well.  It was good to catch up with everyone!

As usual, March has been blowing hot & cold, so Mary working on a Christmas theme pattern doesn't seem out of season!

Anticipating spring, Shirley was 'forcing some bulbs' to bloom.
Libby was questioning her sanity using small cuts when working on a yardstick cover.

Sheila was also working on flowers... can spring be far behind?
While it appears to be a pear tree, that's not a partridge on the top!
Janice is making quick work of this project.
When we left last month, Melody was attempting her first piece, and has gotten back to working on it, getting a feel for the variety of textures & colors of wool.

In the meanwhile, she also completed her first project!

Melody's completed chicken pillow.

Snacks, they're a good thing!  And below is the requested recipe.

Hope to see you in April!
