Highlights of the January meeting ...

The January business meeting was an organizational meeting for the Guild.

New president, Noma Brizius, called the meeting to order about 11:15 after a time spent visiting and catching up on holiday happenings.  All of the new officers were present -- Leanna Reece (co-president), Janice Spaulding (vp), Lois Moore (secretary) and Jana (treasurer).

There were 14 members and three visitors present.

Items of old business included a Treasurer's report by outgoing Treasurer Teresa Kinman.  She turned the books over to new Treasurer Jana at the end of the meeting.  In addition to the standard report, Teresa reported on how much last year's Santa Claus Retreat cost (since we are planning a retreat for 2016).

Youth members were discussed and the Guild voted to approve a motion that members must be 18 and over to have a vote in Guild business.  Also, if under 18, they must be accompanied during the meeting by an adult.

Most of the meeting time was spend discussing the May member retreat on the campus of Vincennes University.  Lois Moore announced that Arline Johnstone of Yorktown, Indiana will be the instructor.  Dates will be Friday & Saturday, May 20 & 21, 2016; times 9am-5pm both days.  The Guild will decide at a future meeting what lunch options will be chosen.  Lois reported that Arline has a few patterns to offer and will have pictures emailed to members.  Members may bring their own projects to work on.  Arline is especially interested in antique reproductions.  In addition, Arline will bring some patterns using quilt templates and she will do a demo on this topic.  There is no maximum amount of participants, however, there is a maximum number of people that Arline can color plan and dye for.  Members were urged to contact Arline a.s.a.p. if they desire this assistance.  Arline's contact information is available from Lois Moore.

Lugene Bond told the group about a Sew Cool machine that one of her students brought to class; the needle of the machine is a felting needle.  Several members expressed a real interest in checking this out!

Following the meeting, members stayed to hook and visit some more.  It was a great way to begin the year with an entirely new slate of officers.  The HHRHG wish you the very best new year possible!  If you're interested in rug hooking, please join us for a meeting in 2016.  Visitors are always welcome!

Here's some photos taken the day of the meeting ...

Teresa Kinman brought this very special Christmas gift (received from her Mother) to show everyone.  Everyone appreciated this heirloom barn quilt that Teresa will treasure forever.

Barbara Bauman brought these two lovely wool applique pillows.  Just lovely!

Barbara is also working on this lovely wool applique wall hanging.  We're all so glad that Barbara shares her work with us!
