Notes from the February meeting ...

The weather kept about half of the membership away from the February meeting, held at the Carnegie Public Library in Washington, Indiana.  A quick business meeting was conducted with most business being about the upcoming Fiber Fair.

Following the business meeting, the members hooked, visited and ate some scrumptious goodies!

Fiber Fair business included:
  • Event insurance will be secured by the guild president.  A reminder was given that the building has been secured.  Marsha Mulroony will double check with the outside food vendor and also contact the Community Corrections Program to find a helper for Fair set-up and take-down.
  • Treasurer Teresa Kinman reported that she has sent the ad to the Country Register to run one time this spring.  Also, she is in contact with a printer about the postcard ads and flyers.  [It was decided to not have bookmark type ad this year; visitor feedback did not indicate that it was a productive way to advertise.]
  • Saltbox Primitive Woolens will teach the rug hooking class at the Fair.  They are also doing a class on making a crazy quilt clutch.  The Guild will offer a 'Kid's Corner'.  Becky Aldridge will be in charge of the rug display area; she will do the labels for the display as well.  Steve Sims suggested a "best of show" vote at the rug display and all agreed to do that this year.
  • The welcome area will be under the charge of Chrystal Goodpaster, Nan Tate and Jennifer Gadberry.  Raffle rug tickets will be sold there.  The Guild's marketplace booth will once again be manned by the Evansville Hookers.
  • A free rug pattern to give away at the Fair was chosen and will also be in use at the Kid's Corner for coloring.
  • We will not offer door prizes this year.
  • Judy Foster is updating the Guild's informational brochure to be available to visitors at the Fair and elsewhere.
The upcoming member retreat at Santa Claus, Indiana was discussed and those who are going were looking forward to this winter break!

Judy Foster will bring the various items she obtained from Rita C. to the next meeting for sale and to give away.

The next meeting of the Hoosier Hills Rug Hooking Guild will be March 8 at 10:30, same time, same place.  Visitors always welcome!
